Dr. Scott Theriault is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University and the Clinical Director of of the Capital District Health Authority's Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Theriault completed his medical training and psychiatric residency at Dalhousie University and after a period of time in community practice in rural Nova Scotia completed postgraduate training in Forensic Psychiatry at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Dr. Theriault has testified as an expert witness throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario.

Dr. Theriault’s clinical experiences in forensic psychiatry and rehabilitation psychiatry have led to an interest in Mental Health law and the rights of individuals subject to such laws. Joining the International Section of the Department of Psychiatry in 2007, Dr. Theriault has had the opportunity to assist in the development of international mental health legislation and has pursued his education in this area, having completed an International Diploma in Mental Health sponsored by the Indian Law Society and the World Health Organization.
