Credentialling
It is mandatory that all new medical staff be credentialled at the site at which they will be contracted. You will be unable to see patients until you are credentialled.
New medical staff will be contacted by Linda Ford (902-473-6214 or linda.ford@cdha.nshealth.ca) to pick up a hard copy application for appointment to the medical/dental staff and you will receive a copy of the Medical Staff Bylaws at that time. IWK staff will be contacted by Michelle Patenaude (902-470-8988 or michelle.patenaude@iwk.nshealth.ca).
As part of the credentialling process, all new medical staff applicants must provide a true certified valid criminal record check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, to Medical Services Administration before an appointment will be granted. The criminal record check must have been issued within the last six months.
Licensing
It is mandatory that all new medical staff be licensed to practice in Nova Scotia. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia is the professional body responsible for regulating the province's medical profession in accordance with the Nova Scotia Medical Act and its regulations.
